But wouldn't that strengthen their immune system over time? I thought you said your body has learned to protect itself. Now we have to take care of our bodies? I mean, here we are with our great knowledge of health, able to condemn medieval Britons for not taking care of themselves from something they had yet to learn exists. Lazy bastards.

Because it's considered inhumane to let a person die without attempting to help them, regardless of whether they chose to have health insurance or not.

And when doctors do treat them, it's often the tax payers that eventually get the bill.

samuel 11.12.2009 01:30 AM

What is with this? You guys take things people say and take it in a whole other direction.

To answer you first dumb question, yes. If we kept on drinking shitty water for generations, slowly we would adjust. Just as fucking roaches become immune to bug sprays over time. Of course, our adjustment would take much longer because it's a different situation. But hey, we're not roaches. We evolved instead by realizing it's not good to drink shitty water.

Next question: Yes, you should take care of your body. Unless you'd like to die earlier, don't. Why did you even ask that?

I'm not condemning anyone. That's just the reality. They died young because they drank shit. Today, we know how to take care of ourselves. Medicine alone is no way the only reason for longer lifespans.

Thanks for being an ass.

Is it not a reason at all? Or just a very insignificant one?

Do you think "health care" is only medicine?

samuel 11.12.2009 01:38 AM

Sure, it's significant. However, eating right, exercising, and knowing what's bad for your body is just as significant. And most medicine today is available without health insurance. Go to Walmart.

pbradley 11.12.2009 01:45 AM

Most antibiotics are through prescription.

Like doxycycline, which is used to fight some forms of dysentery.

samuel 11.12.2009 01:45 AM

Who edits their posts? Just post again.

No, I don't think health care is only medicine. All I said was we have longer lifespans due to other things than medicine. You were the one who brought up medicine being significant.

And again, all I'm saying is health care should be an option. If you tend to break your leg a lot, do yourself a favor and get health care. If cancer runs in the family, get it! If you're 23 and healthy and don't really need it at the time, don't get it. Maybe you want it later? Sure, get it. That's it!

HAHA....yeah i'm just gonna go down the medicine aisle at duane reade and pick up some oxycontin. no big.

all medicine is available without health insurance. the question is whether or not you can afford the doctor visit and the prescription without it. probably not.
by the way, health insurance is a really good idea for some people, probably most people. but there is a minority of people who just don't need it. different strokes.

samuel 11.12.2009 01:56 AM

Thanks for the response, but since you didn't actually say anything, I don't know how to respond back.

Let me try though.... So many Americans today get fucking prescriptions for stupid shit, like for headaches in the morning, not being able to sleep, or having minor allergies. Okay great. If you can afford it yourself, go for it. But to survive, that shit is not needed. I understand if you have a serious illness, you're in need of a prescription. But the ratio of serious cases to luxury cases is so small. That's why I said "most" medicine.

Satan 11.12.2009 01:57 AM

i have prescriptions out the ass. i don't need them to survive but i sure would be miserable as fuck without them.

samuel 11.12.2009 01:58 AM

If you're paying for these luxuries, that's great. But if it's at the expense of others, I don't agree with that.

Satan 11.12.2009 02:02 AM

most of it is covered by my work. i would just stop taking them but i can't do that.

samuel 11.12.2009 02:02 AM

That's cool. You deserve it. You're working.

Satan 11.12.2009 02:11 AM

yeah i'm not trying to leech off anyone, i'm just trying to live my life without too much interference from the feds.
