And again, that reply was written before I read the previous two replies.
But yeah... There's nothing wrong with not liking something. But people should give everything a chance. My point is, people can still listen to black metal and get SOMETHING out of it, even if it's not, as a whole, something they love. There's still at least going to be some amazing riffs or drumming or whatever. Something to enjoy. I listen to all types of music -- even music I don't think I'll necessarily love; I'm shocked that sometimes I end up liking something when I don't think I'm going to. Even if I don't like it, I always try to walk away from the experience with SOMETHING good to say about what I just listened to. People may write off C'N'C Music Factory, but dammit they have some of the best beats you'll ever hear. Just sayin'. |
The riffs ARE pretty tight.
|
Haha, there you go :)
I just hope that people can find something enjoyable -- at least one thing -- with everything in life. It'll make thier life a little easier. For example, I hate most country music, but I can get into the slide guitar work in a lot of that stuff. I hate most rap, but the beats or some of the lyrics are usually okay. |
for you adam i'll say one nice thing about metal... meshuggah (spelling?) put on a good show and are very talented... but i just can't dig it.
|
meshuggah were good ten years ago.

You know who's a really good metal band I've been "diggin on" lately? UNEXPECT.
|
unexpect: like koenjihyakkei covering manowar.
yeah, they are great. |
I don't get all this black metal hate going on. I guess the mistake is people just listening to the mainstream black metal bands, who can be pretty subpar. Ignore shit like Immortal right now. If you want genuinely good black metal you should check out the likes of Darkthrone, Craft, Gallhammer, Arcturus, and so on. There's plenty of great black metal out there, but much like every genre the great stuff is found floating in a sea of mediocrity

another post by diesel that's makes no sense to me what so ever... awesome.
|
atsonicpark you have some good points...
i think for the most part i obviously and admittedly steered away from black metal because of the IMAGARY, and that was a mistake because for some of what i've heard the music is tight and interesting in doses like nearly all music, i'm still not too fond of the vocal inflections in this sorta stuff, its an acquired taste, but i was listening the Beherit and there is some interesting vocalizations and mixing and overdubbing of the vocals that sound pretty wild and cool. |

GWAR should be an area of outstanding natural beauty. Maybe with sick-coloured plaques marking their homes. Anyway, does Thurston really have the "Sonic Life" cross as a tatoo? |
Heheh, yeah, the vocals are an acquired taste, but ... the biggest problem with most black metal is the production is just so, SO awful.
But honestly, Mayhem.. one of the best bands ever. |

definitely! |
