screamingskull, I think I and someone else already made the point that April 8th was when his disgusting body was found, not when he died.... just sayin'. No biggy.

"SCENTLESS APPRENTICE" is a fucking amazing song, btw. I forgot to mention it earlier.

I do wonder why people feel the need to commemorate his death every year.. Important people have died for every single day of the year, why not start a new thread every day, "THIS IS THE 14535TH ANNIVERSARY OF JESUS BEING CRUCIFIED." Oh well, I guess Kurt was more influential than Jesus. Actually, that's probably true.

After careful consideration, I'd say my favorite Nirvana album is from the muddy banks of the wishkah. If only they'd taken "heart shaped box" off of that album and replaced it with something from the early days. Am I the only one who thinks Heart Shaped Box and All Apologies (and the embarassing, AWFUL Rape Me) are amongst the worst songs ever?

NOBODY MOVE, NOBODY GET HURT.

I'm honestly not sure if it's for a distinct loa (of which I'm unfamiliar), or a Santeria Damballa / Aida representation.

what I DO KNOW is, that BBQ adds a lovely touch.

the "post yr next EP's album art" thread is that way -----------------^^^^

dazedcola 04.08.2008 07:30 PM

This is the first year I forgot to "oay tribute" to him. i still miss him so much expecially after hearing that demo song "do re mi" that sounds so happy but was recorded only a few months before he died.

Cantankerous 04.08.2008 07:34 PM

april 5 1994

on saturday i wore a nirvana shirt and i then, wasted at 11 AM, realized that he had died that day 14 years prior.

krastian 04.08.2008 08:55 PM

I still have a tape or 2 of all the shit with Kurt Loder and David Fricke on MTV the day he died/was found.

forkimified 04.08.2008 10:41 PM

oh no, I hope I still have my old VHS tape of an old Nirvana Day tribute on MuchMusic... I forgot I'd recorded it...

✌➬ 04.08.2008 10:51 PM

Oh, shit I totally forgot about this.

the footage comes from a documentary called 'the miracle of life.'
uploaded just in time for Kurt Cobain Day, it seems.

I was actually talking to the guy who did this on the phone today. Apparently he didn't remember that Kurt died this month, and the fifth was actually the night he finished editing the video. The only reason he uploaded it on the sixth is he doesn't have internet at his house.

It's just a weird coincidence that he took a Nirvana song about abortion and set it to a video about birth on the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.

d. boone was also 27 when he died. someone should photoshop him in there...
who is the guy on the right in the first pic?

Cantankerous 04.09.2008 02:21 AM

brian jones, guitarist for the rolling stones (1st lineup)
died 3 july 1969. he drowned in his swimming pool. it has been speculated that his death was NOT, as originally reported, accidental and was a result of foul play.

i did too (in addition to the shirt)!!

weird.

i can't begin to imagine what he would be like now.

forkimified 04.09.2008 02:55 AM

I'd really want to find the sao paulo 1993 show, but that's not out, is it?

I watched About a Son earlier last week with my girlfriend. It's such a weird movie to watch. A lot of the places and events are a lot like the towns where I grew up.

ZEROpumpkins 04.09.2008 03:38 AM

Wiki lists his death as ca. 5th April.
Anyway, (un)happy death day Mr. Cobain, may you rest in peace.

a bit harsh on the heart shaped box, i like that song a lot. all apologies i can take it or leave it. rape me, deserves to get plagarised by hole and stuck on an album with his picture on the back released on the day he died (if my memory serves me correctly) fuckin hole, shite since track 5 of the first album!

scentless apprentice, curmudgeon, negative creep, drain you and anureysm... greatest nirvana songs ever!

ZEROpumpkins 04.09.2008 07:17 AM

Always been a big fan of anureysm, good call there.

actually, we do, its called Good Friday, and in the Ethiopian/Eastern/Oriental Orthodox community, we are celebrating in two weeks, April 25, the crucifixion and death of Our Lord and Savior, jesus Christ.

atsonicpark 04.09.2008 12:27 PM

I stand corrected, sir.

[this was always my favorite picture of nirvana, I drew it rather well for art class in tenth grade, and I wish I still had that sketch...]
