yeah he's awesome. "jazz bed" rules.

The Earl Of Slander 07.15.2008 04:15 PM

Yeah Kaoru Abe is great. I have his Winter 1972 solo album and it does happy things to my brain.

Holy crap. I don't know who he is, but I'm downloading that shit.

The Earl Of Slander 07.15.2008 04:23 PM

Crap. That just highlights how much I need to get more of his stuff and yet how I can't afford to right now. The discs with him and Masayuki Takayanagi have been sitting just outside my shopping basket for too long now...

atsonicpark 07.15.2008 04:26 PM

hope you like super loud saxaphone blasts!

Derek 07.15.2008 04:28 PM

experimental etc is the best blog ever tbh

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 07.15.2008 04:30 PM

I just realised I had the blog already in my favorites, funny.

atsonicpark 07.15.2008 04:30 PM

yeah.

all the "major" sun city girls releases are on there... very handy.

Attention Haino fans - if you;ve not checked it out already, go find the Lost Aaraff CD - recorded in 1971, and completely mental.

demonrail666 07.16.2008 04:35 PM

My grandad would turn in his grave if he found out I was listening to Merzbow.

MellySingsDoom 07.16.2008 04:36 PM

My Grandad (bless him) would've said "What's that bloody rubbish? You should listen to Glenn Miller, Melly, that's real music".

acousticrock87 07.16.2008 04:42 PM

1971? What the hell?

MellySingsDoom 07.16.2008 04:45 PM

^^Yup (this was in Haino's hard-left political period, too). The first track on the CD has him yelling his lungs out (with piano and guitar feedback).

Toilet & Bowels 07.16.2008 05:34 PM

yeah that lost aaraff record is great and pretty different to his other stuff

MellySingsDoom 07.16.2008 05:40 PM

The best way I can describe it is "Hinge And Bracket in Hell"...or "Hans Eisler on a No-Wave kick" (although LA predates No Wave by six or so years).
