MellySingsDoom 08.07.2008 04:55 PM

That's alright, CCC - I don't take that as an insult coming from you.

Crumb's Crunchy Delights 08.07.2008 04:59 PM

good. i'd even go for a beer with you for sure. i suppose i wouldn't have to tell anybody what you are

MellySingsDoom 08.07.2008 05:00 PM

Just another English drunkard -that would do. I'd take you to one of the many fine "straight" boozers in London - nice beer and good times had everywhere.

Crumb's Crunchy Delights 08.07.2008 05:03 PM

i'll be allowed out in another three weeks if all goes well (i stop hitting people:o ) so maybe (i will) some people can meet the re(a)l sam

MellySingsDoom 08.07.2008 05:06 PM

Yay! Nice one, sir.

SuperCreep 08.07.2008 08:47 PM

I disagree with The Clash. Combat Rock would be my second favorite of theirs easily if they would have cut off Red Angel Dragnet and Overpowered by Funk. Sandinista! can be a fantastic mindfuck of an album if you take the time to get used to it.

If yr talking about Cut the Crap, though, then I agree.

Also, Pere Ubu have been falling from grace for the past two and a half decades.

Cantankerous 08.07.2008 09:46 PM

the rolling stones
rem
pink floyd
dinosaur jr.
black sabbath
the clash
basically every band

atsonicpark 08.07.2008 10:00 PM

Women as Lovers is awful, so I definitely agree with Xiu Xiu.

Hot Hot Heat -- fuck yeah I forgot how awesome they used to be!

Savage Clone 08.07.2008 10:01 PM

Cat Power was never good.

MellySingsDoom 08.07.2008 10:30 PM

Can - first albums were (and still are) peerless, their final albums were embarrassing drivel.

Savage Clone 08.07.2008 10:33 PM

Good call. Same for Hawkwind.

and the misfits

Everyneurotic 08.07.2008 10:37 PM

earth a.d. is pretty good.

(the misfits are glenn danzig and jerry only, if one or the other are not in the band, they are not the misfits.)

Cantankerous 08.07.2008 10:37 PM

well. you understand though. compare "halloween" with "saturday night"

viewtiful_alan 08.07.2008 10:38 PM

Fuck I saw one of the new misfits line ups and it was just awful.

Everyneurotic 08.07.2008 10:41 PM

i saw them twice, once with marky ramone, the other with robo, both times with dez cadena and jerry only. both were tons of fun with a block of solid boredom in the middle.

Green Magnesium 08.07.2008 10:41 PM

Cat Power was never "good" but I love her then and now regardless. She's probably the only consistently sloppy performer who I can't get enough of.

I do love her new polished sound though... and I'd also suck the keyboard player, as long as he got rid of that ugly fucking hair.

I was mad that dez wasn't singing.

Everyneurotic 08.07.2008 10:44 PM

the first time, dez sang "rise above"
the second time they played "jealous again", "thirsty and miserable", "fix me" and "rise above". dez singing, sounding like it was 1980 again.

jetengine 08.07.2008 10:52 PM

Judas Priest's most mature and professional album was their first one, Rocka Rolla. Little by little, they went downhill with each album after that, so that by the mid '80s, they looked like a bunch of silly middle-aged men playing childish bubblegum for below-average 10-year olds. Turbo (1985, I believe) makes the first two Partridge Family albums sound like Larks Tongues in Aspic. I'd rather listen to those old LPs anytime.

Savage Clone 08.07.2008 11:01 PM

I think Rocka Rolla's pretty awful, but their best stuff is definitely from the 70s. My favorite is Sad Wings Of Destiny.

haha turbo lover is so damn bad....

Everyneurotic 08.07.2008 11:03 PM

turbo is fucking hilarious, last time i saw them play, that was the most fun i had during their set, when they played "turbo lover".

Death & the Maiden 08.08.2008 02:35 AM

Ramones (though they still had good songs on each album).
I disagee with Television. Of course, Adventure and Television couldn't live up to Marquee Moon, but they're still very good albums, far from bad.

ZEROpumpkins 08.08.2008 04:32 AM

Smashing Pumpkins
Weezer
Rolling Stones
Mercury Rev
Flaming Lips
Foo Fighters

wow, when they came here, they did absolutely no black flag material, it was jerry/dez/marky lineup, at least one song would have been nice

_slavo_ 08.08.2008 04:51 AM

Mogwai, unfortunately.

Pookie 08.08.2008 07:35 AM

Black Flag for me showed the most rapid decline of any band I like.

I disagree with The Clash. In their short existance (five years from first to last album), they barely put a musical foot wrong.

I also disagree with whoever said Pere Ubu. Great start, mediocre middle period and a recent return to greatness.

batreleaser 08.08.2008 07:59 AM

guns n roses (duh)
metallica (duh)
napalm

batreleaser 08.08.2008 08:00 AM

death
obituary
morbid angel
all early 90s death metal bands that didnt break up in time
the greatful dead

MellySingsDoom 08.08.2008 08:11 AM

I'm almost loathe to say this, but I'd add Godlflesh to the mix - the first 3 albums are amazing (esp. "Streetcleaner"), but from then on, each new release was a case of diminishing returns.

Savage Clone 08.08.2008 08:15 AM

SPK
Psychic TV

MellySingsDoom 08.08.2008 08:17 AM

Sutcliffe Bloody Jugend.

"Campaign" = Genius
"Pigdaddy" = Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaa!

Philip Best one did a "review" of "Metal Dance", that said "Even with a whore fronting the band, they still can't get into the charts". Ah, them were the days...

demonrail666 08.08.2008 08:36 AM

Monster Magnet.
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Unsane.

MellySingsDoom 08.08.2008 08:39 AM

Primal Scream - they were actually quite OK on the first LP and "Screamadelica", but as for the rest of their oeuvre, well.....
