Title has changed to 'Demolished Thoughts'. I really felt Benediction was such a cool title. Please change it back T.
|
Just saw this on main page. I thought Demolished Thoughts were some sort of his side punk project, but I like the title too. Can't wait to see the artwork. Because I think we will wait for the album sounds for some more time...
|
The bond I felt with this album via the title is now irretrievably broken.

You mean your warm thoughts have been demolished... |
That as well.
|
well benediction was thurstons joke. but this time he fucked himself because it was the coolest album title i could think of.
|
masters of press
|
really hope thats a misunderstanding or something, Benediction is, as others have said, a wayyyy cooler title

Indeed. I am starting to appreciate his intention. The coolest thing might have been to sell it as benediction and then when you got the thing in your hands it be called 'Demolished Thoughts'. Although that could turn out a tough one promotional-wise. |
he google demolished thoughts its some kind of a band project. so maybe thats the joke and the title is still benediction
|
At this point, I don't care what he calls it. Just fucking release it already! We've been waiting for this record since when, like 1997? Axl Rose was recently quoted saying "What's taking Thurston so long? How long does it take to put out a stinkin' record?"

Demolished Thoughts was like a super group of thurston, j mascis and some other guys just doing Hardcore songs under a minute, they played only one show i believe, and never recorded anything, but theres footage on youtube. |
I want a sneak peak... :(
|
The album will be out on May or June!

When exactly is this album going to be released? I saw a site that said Dec27, 2011. That's a long wait knowing about it. Hopefully he'll tour for it.

Moshe, I was waiting for you to say something like this :) |

Matador just handed me a post-it note: Now the album is officially titled: Jennthebennediction |

Great news! |
So Steve isn't on the drums this time. I'm scared.
|
the artwork is ludicrously horrible.
|
I actually think it's pretty interesting.

With all the love I have for Steve drums, this time I have to say it's good that we have everything in other way and other production guy named Beck. Quote:
It looks like he liked Record's Club artworks. |
the cover art is kinda disappointing. typography?
|
Quote:
Not the best typography around, though it looks better in demolished thoughts than on Thurston Moore, I thought they will make something better too. Looks like Thurston is not going to convince undeclared listeners by the cute cover. |
better than the last cover!
"On Tuesday May 24*, Matador will be releasing ‘Demolished Thoughts’, the 4th solo album from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore (5th if you count 1998′s ‘Root’)" er... first off, why the hell would you count 'Root', and then: 1. Psychic Hearts 2. Trees Outside the Academy 3... ? What are they considering the 3rd solo album? I realize he's released about six thousand solo albums of varying degrees of improvisation, but as for song-based 'solo albums' I'm at a loss to name a third... i always enjoyed joey waronker's drumming, and he seems better suited to play with thurston than when he spent a few years w/ R.E.M. |
Lovin' the cover...
3... Sensitive/Lethal ? this was by far his highest profile noise/Improv album. |
Why not count Root, Chris? Always liked this one's idea and few tracks on it, also it's cover.

it's the exact opposite of a solo album though, it's thurston making a racket and a bunch of other people doing all the work to process his sounds into different ideas (that sounds slightly dismissive, but my point is that it doesn't qualify as a 'singer songwriter' style solo album anymore than the dozens of other noise records he's released).
as for root itself, it was never my favorite but some of the tracks work, and the acoustic schizophrenia is certainly neat... |
i think they mean the solo acoustic thurston disc as the 4th.
|
The cover wasn't ugly, but it could defenitly be looking better.
|
![]() i don't care much for the artcover but this time i think this pic will be better for the album title ‘Demolished Thoughts’...i'm expecting a great sound |
this album is going to rock so much. already trying to play "You lost your lover" (or whatever it's called). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqo1DdksbPM
You Lost Yr Lover: DDAF#AD There was a time when you could find him Just by staring at the sky A perfect stranger, out of nowhere Nothing to do, nowhere to hide And he disappears today Where he goes he cannot say The silver rain is all you see You lost your lover I seem to recall sometime last fall Brown leaves crowned around your head Now i'm back in town, and i'm looking around Will i ever see your eyes again? Where did you disappear today? I turn the corner () Silver rain with the paper key You lost your lover ------------------------------------------------------ ---0---9-- --0--6 ---0---9-- --0--6 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 |
Where can I see the original artwork?
I so was just researching Thurston's solo material and came across this.. Kevin Shields & Thurston Moore Split 7" http://www.discogs.com/Kevin-Shields...elease/1703951 I was initially overwhelmed with joy that two of my favourite guitarists did a split together... apparently its A WOMEN NAMED KEVIN SHIELDS from some band called Gang Wizard that had some albums on Ecstatic Peace! A real head scratcher. I really wanna hear the Blindfold cassette! |
