Seriously, how is Air - La Femme D'Argent a song? Don't songs have to have singing and a particular form and so on? I know that some people say "song" when they mean any piece of music, but it drives me nuts.

This did occur to me afterwards (and with Feldman, Part), but at the time I was thinking more of beautiful pieces of music.

In other news, I demand that you 'hook me up' with some 'dope' lieder (probably spelt wrong, I care not).

porkmarras 01.13.2007 05:39 PM

3 more that came up:
Bobby womack-Across 10th Street
Jimi Hendrix-Crosstown Traffic
Sly Stone-Runnin' Away

Perfection personified.I never tire of these as they are simply perfect.

If anyone would write as great songs as these again,i think we'd have little time to discuss things.

porkmarras 01.13.2007 06:21 PM

I forgot:
Ice Cube-It was a good day
Justin Timberlake-Cry me a river

I was really close to putting that on my mixtape (it's 110th though) but at the last moment opted for Marvin Gaye's Inner City Blues instead.

I'm not even going to start on a top 10 of most beautiful songs... but the most beautiful one I heard today was a solo piano version of The Mercy Seat by Nick Cave.

That song couldn't be any sadder. There are a lot of sad songs, but this one nails it, it's perfect.

Definitely.
In contrast, God is Love from the same album is about the happiest song ever. His enthousiasm when he sings about Jesus and God gets me every time.. and I'm not religious in the slightest.
