yup, two pics of tel aviv, of of the galilee and jlem at the bottom. what i love most about it here is its the size of new jersey but has every possible climate. there are mountains in the center (jerusalem and such) ocean on the west, grassy hills in the north. a lake and a snowy mountain at the way north. deserts in the south, and trropical climate on the way south...

now, shouldn't the main concern be what do you want to do/find in a country?
A place can be as beautiful as Eden, but if there I can't do/find what I want it would be a quite useless place to live in.

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 03:34 AM

Find one of the few remaining places on the planet where they like Americans and stay there.

Cantankerous 04.01.2008 03:37 AM

america!

i hate this country.

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 03:39 AM

That was a joke. Maybe you just need a change for a while, but I can't imagine there isn't somewhere in the States where you feel comfortable. I mean, you live in NY, yeah?

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 03:42 AM

That was meant to read where you feel comfortable.

Cantankerous 04.01.2008 03:43 AM

yeah but i mean it's just the same thing over and over each day, the same people, shops, food, everything. i'm tired of the mentality of this country. i love certain things about the states and certain places but honestly it doesn't have much to offer other than that unless i'm in a certain mood.
in other words, i'll be on your doorstep in a month or two's time after the old bastard kicks the bucket and i've got my new apartment.

best type error ever

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 03:45 AM

Who's the old bastard?

Cantankerous 04.01.2008 03:47 AM

a great uncle.
somehow (probably because i live the closest) i'm first in line for this apt.
dude's been living there for like 35 years and it's huge.

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 03:49 AM

Is he dying?

Norma J 04.01.2008 03:51 AM

'I'm so bored with the USA' is the first thing I thought of when reading this thread title. Has that quote been mentioned? I'm sure it has.

_slavo_ 04.01.2008 03:53 AM

Why don't you just pack your shit and go to India or Vietnam for a month or so? You'll vent out and after a while start looking forward to getting back to good 'ol America again.

That's what I've been planning to do and I'll probably get it done in October-November ... I've been perpetually growing exhausted of the environment I'm in and I feel I nead a break as soon as it gets.

Go to India and teach english. There's a calling.

Cantankerous 04.01.2008 04:02 AM

if i had any patience whatsoever i would, but unfortunately i don't, which is why i
a) never wanted to be a teacher
b) do not want children

sarramkrop 04.01.2008 04:04 AM

Do some volunteering in Iraq, that will make you miss the States quicker than you can find a clean loo in a war zone. I have an American friend who works for Amnesty here in London and she travelled in a lot of ravaged parts of the world that made her realize what she had left at home big time.

i don't support the war or americans interfering with iraqi affairs in any way whatsoever so i'm not going to iraq, however i would certainly go to africa or asia to help them out as long as i don't have to teach anyone to speak english or read.

Katy 04.01.2008 04:26 AM

St Petersburg, Tokyo, Berlin.

three places I'd like to be instead of London at the moment.

for something more bucolic, I would also like to go to Croatia and wander around the Plitvice Lakes, then take to the sea and sail leisurely across the Adriatic to Italy.. then do some wandering around there, saying "ciao" a lot and eating mountains of pasta.
