This doesn't work for me, 'cause I'm a terrible sleeper.

Masturbate and eat pasta lavished with tomato sauce simultaneously, it's a real mess.

boy, i'm really tired from life lately...

What I don't understand about the original post is the second line. Are you sad because you're about to hurt someone? Or about to hurt someone because you're sad? In either case, the best solution is--don't.

At the risk of sounding callous, a lot of times in instances like this that involve people your actions will hurt, "sadness" is merely a case of remorse or guilt or even self-loathing. I think you have to step back, examine your acitons and your motives, and think about what is the least harmful thing to do, to yourself and others. Taking the least harmful approach is almost always the "happiest" decision.

That said, what !@#$% says is very true. Most of what's been suggested here is just a temporary band-aid, even sleep. But sleep does give you the rest you need so later you have the energy to face the problem that's making you sad.

As for myself, my band-aids for temporary sadness include a lot of TV watching (anything but the news and infomercials, old movies preferred), strong good coffee, and favorite old albums. Also sometimes clothes, as in buying new ones, though you can end up making unwise fashion decisions if you're sad when you buy them.

A Buddhist teacher also told me this one time: If you're unhappy, change just one thing, even something small, in your routine.

It really does work.

Did you try to stop listening to The Rolling Stones for a while, then?

gmku 04.28.2008 06:50 AM

Ha ha ha. Another Rolling Stones joke! I never tire of them.

sarramkrop 04.28.2008 06:55 AM

Sadly I suspect that it would do you a hell of a lot of good if you tried.

gmku 04.28.2008 06:57 AM

Yes, sadly you do think that, don't you. I think you'd be a lot happier trying to be less of a music fascist.

sarramkrop 04.28.2008 07:00 AM

You've just thrown a dark cloud on top of me. I am now sad.

gmku 04.28.2008 07:01 AM

Tomorrow, tomorrow, the sun will come out tomorrow...

Just throw on some show tunes, old chap.

sarramkrop 04.28.2008 07:03 AM

I hope so.

I reckon you could get an Arts Council grant for that.

Well, Porky, would it help if I told you that you're good enough, you're smart enough, and, doggoneit, people like you?
