Is that why they tell kids that we live in a free country Norma J?
|
Correct.
|
I don't really see myself having children, but if I do I will teach them there is no Santa.
|
i refuse to teach my future kids any santa bullshit.

this is exactly how i feel aswell i love it when my nephew is scared of going through the car wash because he thinks its a monster...he actually believes that it is a monster..he wont get to do that later on in his life when hes trying to get a job and trying to lose his virginity kids just need to be kids and enjoy whilst they can |
No fat, bearded old nonce is going to take credit for all of my time spent working towards providing a christmas for my hypothetical family.
Santa... Satan... Satan brings you all presents, children, to attach you to material goods to lead your love away from Jesus. OMG I GOT AN IPOD!! |

to be honest, you sound like a whackjob to deprive your kids the joy of beleiving in santa claus is pathetic and only self serving to you...i hope they hate you when they grow up, but theyll have enough other reasons to do that im sure. |

typical low-grade post, brimming with resentment and ignorance. embarrassing to witness. |
We don't do the xmas thing here anyways, but I think the idea of getting on your kids because they lied about putting the cat in the closet and then telling them a big fat guy came down the chimney and gave them presents is a little hypocritical.

was it really that traumatic for you guys that hate this lie?
are you still affected by it today? |
I don't care for it, my parents always emphasized Jesus not Santa. To me my parents never said Santa brought me gifts, they always took me to buy what I wanted.
|
I feel nostalgic for the magic that I felt when I was a child.

why wouldn't i respond? it's not like it takes me an hour to type 2 sentences. if i swat a fly, should the fly feel victorious? |

way to make silly assumptions. traumatic? i enjoyed santa a lot. but i enjoyed much more discovering that "santa" was my dad going to work every day. found a store card statement with my bycicle listed on it, and the payment due. gave me a new respect for the guy. i was raised catholic also, which in my view is a whole extra set of fairytales, and i don't plan to teach them to my kids either. i don't have those beliefs any more and have no reason to perpetuate them on another generation. there is a huge body of mythology and fairytales out there to help us understand the world and i plan to teach it to my kids as such-- as myths. not as literal truths. i also plan to teach them science from an early age. my question for you (as a way to retort with assumptions) is this: do you feel so threatened by people's rejection of santa claus that you need to believe they are shellshocked or something? |
my question is do you take everything so literally on a msg board?
edit:i made a spelling mistake, forgive me god |
