The premise of the thread is all wrong, Satan. You assume that workers are not used to paying for health care (many of us have for decades). You also assume that workers don't want to pay for health care (sort of like not wanting to pay for rent or food, but what can you do?). Wrong on both counts, I assure you.

On the other hand, if you're truly against paying for mandatory health care, you're probably doing the right thing for yourself by not working (legit). Your choice.

yeah, that's their fucking level of brainwash and propaganda, and even you are repeating the fucking words they put out there to block any kind of change.

Best post of the thread!

Satan obviously has anger issues. Something she could afford to deal with if she had adequate health care.

Ha ha! Hey, Walmart's a great place to save for the holidays! Get out there and shop Walmart so this place can continue to pay its dirt-poor overworked employees.

My medical insurance as a $1500 deductible (family). Many insurance plans have deductibles that are much higher and most families can't afford it (but they have it). My place of employment provides us with a nurse practitioner at no cost. My family is so fortunate to have this blessing.

NOTHING good will come from the government running health care. What needs to be done is to allow insurance companies to fight against each other by allowing them to offer plans outside their current states of operation. If this can be done, I'm sure some will start offering "no pre-existing conditions" and affordable rates. The biggest problem will be your doctor / local doctors taking part in a plan from another state. It's apples & oranges, but it's not much different that Southwestern Bell / AT&T from back in the day.

These things should be tried first before the government screws everything up.

So true.

As either a military, state, or fed employee for most of my life, I've been fortunate to have some of the best insurance available. And still, going to the doctor is expensive. You still have to pay co-payments on everything from a simple office visit to an extended hospital stay, prescriptions, etc.

Only when I was in the Air Force was everything free, for both me and my family. Ideally that's the way it should be.

Any way, it's Veterans Day. Soldiers died for our way of life. To me that includes the ideal of access to decent health care.

I've already been scouting sites for a compound in Texas.

my cult only has a few rules:

• aliens are here to have sex with us. we
must all do our part to assist them.

• drugs are mandatory.

• healthcare is against our religion.

• we like Knox.

so, seeing as healthcare is against our religion, how long before the ATF breaks in, steals our alien-hybrid children and makes a mockery of us in CNN?

while there could be some competitive princing and offers, there is no incentive whatsoever for them to offer insurance to people who are already sick. that has to be mandated and i'm glad it will be done.

the insurance company is just a fucking middleman. they don't provide healthcare. they just take your money, skim off the top, and then make it a bitch to pay doctors. doctors need to have extra people on the staff just to deal with the fucking insurance claims, or they would never get paid. it's a fucking ugly racket and i'd be happy to be rid of it.

i much rather trust the government to provide a service (like the fire department and the cops and the roads) and then if you want extra perks you can buy your own (like people have private security, helicopters, etc). but again, "we don't trust the government", cuz of some obscure fucking superstition, but we trust the big fucking corporations, right?

i'm for the free market for most things but some things need to be collective or they won't work-- roads is one, army is another, and health care too. in the meantime, i'll take whatever i can get, even if i disagree with having to give my money to some corporate vulture.

exactly, that's a mandate-- 'you must provide". hell yeah.

about vehicle insurance-- people who have too many accidents are offered policies that are unaffordable. so you can quit driving and take the bus or take cabs or have someone give you a ride-- some break the law and drive without insurance.

you don't have that option with your life. well, you could say "hey, my fucking cancer has raised my premiums to $20K a month, so i think i'll eat a bullet now".

sure a lot of health care is self-inflicted and people could use some incentives to exercise, eat right, lose weight, etc. but a lot of it is random and fucking tragic and this IS a moral issue, not just a business one. you can't throw people to the dogs just because they are not in perfect condition.

about the government not getting more involved, i disagree-- i fear big business more than i fear the government. the government may be flawed, but health insurance companies are fucking vultures with no interest whatsoever in the public good. they just want money, and it's profitable for them to take money and deny you coverage or find some other way to fuck you or your doctor.

you know what is the most successful insurance program out there? It pays off doctors more than any other, it covers more people than any other, it covers more procedures than any other?

MEDICARE and MEDICAID. It is what is used by all our senators and representatives and they LOVE IT. Most private health insurance pays off to doctors about 50% of what they should. medicare and medicaid pay off around 80%. It covers things such as prosthesis for dsifigured peoplr, alternative therapies, etc.

FUCK private health insurance. it is a crock of SHIT

to add one dependent on my work insurance (atena) it costs me $745 a month. a FUCKING MONTH!
it is insane. $745 x 12 = $8940
that is more than the yearly amount you would pay for standard doctors visits, and preventive care! fuck!
