HELL YES. not sure all the facts are accurate but medicare spends only like 2% on administrative costs. i do know some doctors won't take medicare though cuz the payscales may be low. but that can be fixed.

i'd take medicare over private insurance. but i'll take regulated private insurance over nothing. mang, i'm self employed! the perfect is the enemy of the good. adn the good is the enemy of the good enough, ha ha.

read up on it. my mom worked at a cardiologist for 17 years, my cousin is an RN working in private practice. I know hospital admins and clinic admins, and while medicare is not perfect, it does pay out more often and more regularly than private health insurance. it covers more stuff than private health insurance. all elected officials get medical care under medicare if they choose, or if they are rich fucks they just choose to pay for it themselves.

several facts:

1) automobile insurance is mandatory in this country.
2) i don't have automobile insurance.
3) i drive on a regular basis.
4) i realize that what i am doing is risky.
5) i never try to justify it by saying "I'M NOT GOING TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT. even if i did get in an accident i wouldn't go to a mechanic."

about vehicle insurance-- people who have too many accidents are offered policies that are unaffordable. so you can quit driving and take the bus or take cabs or have someone give you a ride-- some break the law and drive without insurance.

this post deserves to be read twice. It says it all. Why does big business get away with murder? because the repubs and dems are in their pockets. The only thing that is going to really fix this country is a third party that is truly independent and not behold to someone for the cash to get elected

don't be so naive. the rest of the developed, and even many countries of the developing world all contribute this way for healthcare.. it is the most efficient system available.. I mean, come on, the american way has failed millions of people.. I can't get healthcare because I work part-time and under the table, as do MILLIONS of people ages 16-30..
I would love to go the dentist and fix some of my teeth before I have to reluctantly let them all fall out and fuck up. I would love to go take care of some serious health problem I have at the moment, but there is no $$$. and if I wanted to somehow buy a healthcare plan, it would point blank cost me TWICE as much cash money as these govt plans are proposed to cost.

its a fucking shame.

I say, people like you are being the pricks.. what is so wrong with public health care? after all, if the sick people are left to fend for themselves, it brings down our ENTIRE society collectively.. have a heart please :)
