Thanks very much , skipvacuum. I haven't received my copy of the album yet, as i just placed my order very recently so this radio session and also acidjack's recording of the show at Music Hall Of Williamsburg gotta act as my Thurston Moore fix for the time being. Much appreciated.

I was listening to it, two songs 'Benediction' & 'Mina Loy' were played with Samara and he told few words on recording album, future plans for SY and Coco's music.

Good record, really just started to actually listen to it.
I wonder if he keeps all the acoustic stuff in his pocket knowing it wouldn't really work in Sonic Youth? I could actually imagine some of these songs as played by the whole band. ~Jeremy~ |
Thurston Moore performing "Mina Loy" and "Benediction" for Lauren Laverne's show on BBC 6 Music:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00h9lb6 If someone captures the streaming MP3, would it be too much to ask you to Sendspace it or something, for those of us unlucky bastards for whom this isn't available to stream in our neck of the woods? Thanks. |

EDIT: get it here |
also on dime Thurston Moore 2011-06-01 BBC 6 Music session DVB-S mp2 by smiler40

It took me less than a minute to download it from dimeadozen. I'll also download the .rar file you uploaded to Megaupload, stu. It's a few megabytes bigger, so i suppose it has a little bit of additional content. Thanks so much.
|
Quote:
the .rar file i uploaded is my mp3 rip of the stream and only includes the thurston interview + the 2 songs he played. it should be the same content as the dimeadozen file, the only difference i can see is that the dime upload is mp2 and taken from the digital satellite broadcast and mine is mp3 from the online listen again stream, i haven't got the dime torrent so i can't compare the quality. |

i'd like to hear that *cough* |

After briefly "skimming" through the songs for the first time, I wasn't that eager to listen again. My first impression was that this would be TOTA part 2, and I wasn't that crazy about TOTA on the whole, although it had some fine moments. There are even moments on this record that sound a lot like specific songs from TOTA or other SY records. For example, Illuminine reminds me of Frozen Gtr (one of the few songs from TOTA that I really like). The first vocals on Circulation sound like those from Wonderful Witches. And there's a moment on Orchard Street that recalls Self Obsessed and Sexxee.
But when I finally gave this record a fair and thorough listening, I realized that this is the record that TOTA should have been. The songs and production are far better. Blood Never Lies and In Silver Rain with Paper Key are just beautiful. Especially the vocals on Blood Never Lies. It tears my heart out. Circulation is amazing. If we could "steal" Silver>Blue and maybe a couple others from TOTA and put them on this record, it would be perfect. I'm very happy that Thurston recorded this! |

Alright, so I just listened to the record.
I fucking Love it all through. The songs, production, everything really! The artwork could be a bit better, but I am really satisfied. Too bad I missed the London gig, cause I arrived the day after :( |

the portrait in the gatefold, with "... vogue" written on his arm, is by far the least flattering picture i've ever seen of him. not that it matters much. wonder why he chose it though...

Put perfectly. I'm really impressed with the album. It's a great departure. |

I'm exactly the same. I expected a brother for Trees outside the academy but I think this improves on it. |
Glad to hear everyone is enjoying DT. Add me to the list. Hello to all my friends and enemies "it has been a long time hasn't it. "Y" that does mean peace not..."
|
I remember he played a few songs from Psychic Hearts during the encore durring the Trees era show I saw. I would like to see one of my favorite underestimated songs Female Cop played live at the Troubadour next month, please.

I went crazy when He encored Psychic Hearts stuff in Dublin on that tour. Patti Smith math scratch and Psychic Hearts were amazing. I was singing along and could hear two or three others singing every word. No doubt people from these boards. |
It's all a bit strummy strummy plucky plucky innit.
However, i do like song number 5 - Theresa's sound world... |

At first glance I thought it was a teenage picture til I realized it was taken around the "Youth Against Fascism" video shoot. |

Great video!

Thurston @ Pappy & Harriet's, Pioneertown, CA July 31 I've always wanted to go to this venue, supposed to be really cool with quite a story. Started out as a Hollywood Western set in the Mojave Desert, then somewhere along the way some of the fake sets got turned into real buildings. Was a biker bar at one point, they have a little bungalow hotel around the corner from the venue, hitching post for patrons traveling on horseback. Reinacted gunfights for tourists. Too bad it's a Sunday night, as it's quite a drive from LA and I'm too busy Monday morning. However, a hypothetical acoustic version of Death Valley '69 played in the Mojave desert seems like something not to miss... Gila Monster Jamboree 2011? |

All a bit technical innit? brilliant, technically. I've since deleted this from me' mp3 player after a couple listens. I don't mind acoustic guitar it's just the pluckety pluck gets too much after the first few songs. And that violin is not my bag at all. not my bag, baby! Harp is great though, took straight from AIR's Kyoto  |
for those not adverse to plunky-plunk: Thurston live on air, streaming, July 28th, 11:15am (PST) to be archives at KCRW.com
