Favorite Beck Album?

This could be interesting.

Poll to follow.

hotbutterknives 02.26.2007 06:44 PM

mine is the one foot, but stereopathetic is right behind

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 02.26.2007 06:54 PM

I love Mellow Gold.

TheDom 02.26.2007 07:03 PM

Mellow Gold, hands down.

finding nobody 02.26.2007 07:19 PM

When my last girlfreind broke up with me, the first thing I thought about was Sea Change.
I was going to vote OFITG or Steriopathic. cause I love those equally

Danny Himself 02.26.2007 07:20 PM

OFTIG is my favorite but I really like MG and SS so I voted for all three.

k-krack 02.26.2007 07:20 PM

Of the five I've heard, (MG, Odelay, Sea Change, Guero, The Info.) it's gotta be MG. I hated Guero, save for like, 3 songs...

I wanna hear the early ones...

EyeballGrowth 02.26.2007 07:59 PM

FUCK YEAH!! Good to know that other people know Mellow Fucking Gold is the best, hands down. One of the best albums of the 90's. My 2nd favorite is Stereopathetic Soul Manure

Nowww she steals my body home

EyeballGrowth 02.26.2007 08:00 PM

YEaaa, guero unfortunately sucked, save 2 songs in my opinion. The Information has more good ones but lots of them are boring gueroish songs. The Information is excellent though.

Sonic Youth 37 02.26.2007 08:20 PM

Mellow Gold, hands down. It brings back fond memories

hey alex 02.26.2007 10:36 PM

Yea, Mellow gold- it think it shows his range the best, meaning there's a lot fo silliness and raplike songs, but alos some acoustic (tho augmented) songs. My second would probably be stereopathetic, then maybe odelay or grave.

Information sucks. It's the only beck album i can call bad.

ALIEN ANAL 02.26.2007 10:45 PM

why do people not like guero i thought it wasnt bad, its nice for just putting in the car for a long trip and listening to. I must admit i do skip quite a few of the songs to hear preferred ones, but i can still listen to the album and not be bothered.

I liked odelay, but i was going through a shitty time when i bought that cd and it listend to it lots so it just brings those memories back.

timtimtim 02.26.2007 11:39 PM

I'm surprised how well Mellow Gold is doing. I never got into but I've listened to it a few times. The info and Mutations are probably my favorite with midnight vultures close behind.
It's a shame that guero was so much bigger than the info because Guero except for a few songs wasn't so hot.

ALIEN ANAL 02.27.2007 12:05 AM

everyone saying 'except a few songs' when talking about guero, can you list them, it would be interesting to see.

Norma J 02.27.2007 12:59 AM

I haven't got a favourite. Mellowgold and Guero would be the two albums that I play the most. But Beck is one of them artists to me, who has a couple of great songs on each album, but with the rest being filler I don't care a great deal to listen to. He's talent overall though.

Dennis Lyxen would give him a run for his money, and most likely leave Beck broke.:p

Go it Alone,Farewell ride, Hell Yes, andQue' Onda Guero. A few others were ok but the album gets boring during the mid section to me.

krastian 02.27.2007 01:23 AM

OFITG
Mellow Gold
Steropathetic
Mutations
Midnight
Odelay
Sea Change
Guero
Information (haven't heard it because Guero was such a letdown to me)

foxforce5 02.27.2007 01:28 AM

I've been told Sea Change is amazing after awhile.

sun city girl 02.27.2007 04:17 AM

stereopathetic, no doubt about it.

sonic sphere 02.27.2007 06:47 AM

one foot in the grave is my favourite-i love the backing vocals by the guy with the really deep voice

cryptowonderdruginvogue 02.27.2007 10:07 AM

a western harvest field by moonlight
golden feelings
banjo story
and then One Foot In The Grave (one i voted for)
etc.etc.etc.

raging_nelly 02.27.2007 10:09 AM

I really like Guero, tho I I am ashamed that I havent heard any of his older stuff... I only have Odelay, Guero and The Information... really wanna get hold of some older stuff tho...

Where should I start?

Danny Himself 02.27.2007 11:00 AM

Mellow Gold, then work backwards.

That would be Calvin Johnson. He sings in band called Beat Happening. And a buncha others

dazedcola 02.27.2007 01:11 PM

I love OFITG the best. I tend to like beck's more folk side and OFITG is just an amzing collection of songs.Mellow Gold and Stereopathetic Soul Manure have their moments. This reminds me i still need to get odelay.

I feel like Mutations is really underrated. its never talked about but its got some of beck's best songs on there like "nobody's fault but my own" and "lazy flies".

I really like Cold Brains and Tropicalla

hey alex 02.27.2007 02:15 PM

yes, mutations is quite nice. Is it 'lazy flies' that has that riff that sounds like a zep song? I know there's one.

Danny Himself 02.27.2007 06:23 PM

Mutations is underrated, yes. 'Sing It Again' was written for johnny cash to sing, apparently.

EyeballGrowth 02.27.2007 10:46 PM

Only songs I liked on Guero were Broken Drum and Missing.

The loser single is worth it too. For the song Alcohol, god what a jaw droppingly amazing song. Fume and Corvette bummer are good too. His song " Leave me on the moon " from Kill the Moonlight is one of my favorite Beck songs too

Yea, mutations was pretty decent. I don't like odelay though, I only liked Jackass and Where it's at, that was a pretty weak album. I consider Guero to be Odelay II

timtimtim 02.27.2007 11:02 PM

Does anyone remember when Bob Dylan sort of ripped ona Beck back during the Midnight Vultures buzz. I believe Dylan said something along the lines of Beck tries really hard but no one can pull of as much as Beck tries to do and do it well.

EyeballGrowth 02.28.2007 01:22 AM

Leapin up into the air gettin juiced up Beyond Belief!!

The Mellow Gold videos that were made are some of my favorite music video's ever

krastian 02.28.2007 01:23 AM

How you like me now?
Pretty good, goin' on feelin' strong.

EyeballGrowth 02.28.2007 11:36 PM

Ahhhh yea, my goodness!
