I like the second one best.

noumenal 03.27.2007 03:30 PM

They're not rock bands, they're trees. Must we judge?

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.27.2007 03:34 PM

The first one reminds me of the Stanford mascot.

sarramkrop 03.27.2007 03:37 PM

The first and fifth trees are particularly good looking. I bet they even know each other.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.27.2007 03:42 PM

Have any of you ever been to Redwood National Park in California? Incredible place.

SynthethicalY 03.27.2007 03:54 PM

I live in Cali and never been there.

No, I desperately want to.

Green_mind 03.27.2007 04:21 PM

"all I want to do is look at the trees..."

afterthefact 03.27.2007 08:55 PM

I saw a tree once, but it ran away before I could get a decent pic...

Toilet & Bowels 03.27.2007 09:02 PM

i'd like to see a camphor tree one day, there's another tree i'd like to see one day, but the name eludes me right now

camphor:

Toilet & Bowels 03.27.2007 09:09 PM

this is the major oak, according to legend robin hood used it as a hideout, but apparently the tree isn't old enough for that to be the legend to be true

atari 2600 03.27.2007 09:10 PM

Of note, I have a Kwanzan Cherry or Akebeno Cherry tree or somesuch in the front yard that blossoms purplish-pink twice a year. The slightly odd thing though is that a few other houses in the neighborhood have similar trees, but mine always flowers at least a week before theirs do.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.27.2007 09:18 PM

While not a tree, I have a African violet I received as a gift, that is growing out of control.

Now, at first I thought it was a lame gift idea, but I've grown to like it quite a lot. I've never been able to keep plants alive, but this thing is outrageous. It's been nice lately, so I've got the windows open in the house, it sits on a window seal, and since its been getting fresh air all day long, and has almost doubled in size.

thats fucking beautiful. unfortunately after living for almost 2 years in the sticks i have lost all interest in nature. i find street junkies more interesting these days.

but yeah those pictures look great. im jealous of everyone's enthusiasm here, i guess. :D

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.27.2007 09:28 PM

You must not see many trees !@#$%. Being out in the desert and all.

Of relevance, and I've been meaning to hear some Anthony Braxton since reading the lengthy article about him in Wire. Slow moving, obviously.

Yeah...it's a nice tree. Why not give it a little flattery? I like the 5th one best though. Looks good to climb.

I am a big fan of Yew trees. Sturdy.

!@#$%! 03.27.2007 09:51 PM

SynthethicalY 03.27.2007 09:54 PM

You live in a desert? I could not live in it, too damn hot. I want to live in a city, I am way into the city, and New York seems appetizing.

!@#$%! 03.27.2007 11:07 PM

well, actually... funny thing! i dont live there anymore, and i don't miss it much. we moved to a small town nearby. i love having UNLIMITED electicity, 24h internet, and shopping within walking distance. but the city, i swear, i swear, is what i love the most. the grimy air and the crowded sidewalks, delicious!

madame !@#$%! & i have been thinking of building a small cabin or summer home or something in those deserted lands from the picture, but then we look at each other and say "fuckit, we're saving for a condo in DC!!".

but yes it's pretty once in a while. for hiking and what not.

SynthethicalY 03.28.2007 01:12 AM

I love the city, although I have never been to one. Sorry L.A. doesn't count. I want real crowded places, That's why when I start looking for universities next year I might check out New York.

I took an air-rifle, shot a magpie to the ground & it died without a sound.
Your skin so pale against the fallen Autumn leaves &
no-one saw us but the trees.
Yeah, the trees, those useless trees produce the air that I am breathing.
Yeah, the trees, those useless trees; they never said that you were leaving.
I carved your name with a heart just up above - now swollen,
distorted, unrecognisable; like our love.
The smell of leaf mould & the sweetness of decay
are the incense at the funeral procession here, today.
In the trees, those useless trees, etc.
You try to shape the world to what you want the world to be.
Carving your name a thousand times won't bring you back to me.
Oh no, no I might as well go & tell it to the trees.
Go & tell it to the trees, yeah.
