My Spanish book is stupid...

Since my stupid ass Spanish book doesn't have half the words I need to write about all these paintings (for a project, I have to describe 10 different paintings in Spanish) and online tranlators fuck everything up, I started this thread. If anyone would like to help me with some of the compicated sentences, that'd be great. I'm trying to keep my sentences simple so I don't need this thread, but there are some good sentences I just don't want to let go of.

To start us off:

"This painting makes me feel like there is happiness in death: A Heaven to look forward to, and people that will miss me when I die."

I came up with this: Esta pintura me hace tener ganas de hay felicidad en ____..."

My book doesn't have most of these verbs except for "to make."

So any help is appreciated. Thanks.

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:11 AM

sorry wrong one.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.25.2007 12:11 AM

Esta pintura me hace sentir como si uviera(spelling?) felicidad en la muerte

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:14 AM

Este retrato me hace sentir que hay felicidad en la muerte: Un paraiso que espero, y la gente que me extrñara cuando yo muera.

Sorry, I think this is correct.

!@#$%! 04.25.2007 12:14 AM

Esta pintura me hace sentir que hay felicidad en la muerte: un paraIso al que aspirar, y gente que me extran~arA cuando muera.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.25.2007 12:18 AM

Yeah, I wrote that shit. I am that down about missing Xiu Xiu.

But actually, my stupid ass Spanish teacher will be a douche if I only use simple sentences because he knows I'm better than that. And I know he'll eat this shit up. He goes on and on about how he loves philosophy. It is really annoying. But the point is, I'm good at playing to a teacher's likes and dislikes. There is a reason I have straight A's.

Most of the time, I can get by with Spanish pretty easily (my worst subject really, just because I don't like it), but this sentence was a little out of my league.

And thanks...

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.25.2007 12:22 AM

trust me, your teacher will love this:

Esta pintura me hace tocarme en la noche, pendejo.

!@#$%! 04.25.2007 12:22 AM

give him this one:

Profesor, mis amigos de Sonic Youth dicen que usted es un grandIsimo huevOn.

yo alex aren't your parents mexican or something? or am i misinformed?

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:23 AM

I think he is mixed !@#$%!

Alex's Trip 04.25.2007 12:27 AM

My dad speaks spanish, but like shitty spanish. And he is at work tonight (he works only night shifts).

Everyneurotic 04.25.2007 12:28 AM

now, they are just getting you tell him bad words so he punishes you; really, tell him this, since you want to make your point across how it is not the best way to learn a language the one he's teaching

profesor: con todo el respeto a las normas y reglas de nuestra sociedad, pase usted por favor a chingar a su madre.

he'll go straight to the school board to change the program.

Alex's Trip 04.25.2007 12:32 AM

For the record, he isn't a bad teacher. Just an obnoxious one.

We aren't translating stuff that he gave us. I just needed that sentence translated.

Everyneurotic 04.25.2007 12:39 AM

really, that sentence will make him reconsider his (and the school's) method of teaching.

Alex's Trip 04.25.2007 12:40 AM

Oh, and the first thing we did when we first started learning Spanish was ask the Mexican kid who already spoke Spanish in our class who was too lazy to take a different language how to say all the naughty stuff. So I'm good.

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:41 AM

Well I am taking spanish, but it is for spanish speakers. You have to learn all the rules and I know shit.

!@#$%! 04.25.2007 12:41 AM

Suena como que es un viejo man~oso que me da asco.

Everyneurotic 04.25.2007 12:41 AM

still, is a classy way to tell people to fuck off; it's like saying "won't you dearly and kindly stick a dildo up your rectum?"

Alex's Trip 04.25.2007 12:43 AM

Tired.
Sleep.
Thanks guys.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.25.2007 12:43 AM

funny that mexico has the chingar la madre insults. in south america we invoke the mother's cunt, we don't say "go fuck your mother", we say "go to your mother's cunt", or "vete a la concha de tu madre". in the case of the teacher, it would be "vaya usted a la rechoncha de su puta madre"

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.25.2007 12:45 AM

hahaha i love that

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:46 AM

I would love to learn the slang of south latin America.

yeah, my ex-guitar player was from chilenian descent and everything was "vete a la reconcha de tu madre!!!"

but, then again, "chingar" means literally "to fuck" but it has devolved into an insulting variation of "to annoy", less of the sexual assumption of "fuck" actually; so much, it's somehow a light insult here, like a couple of degrees more than "estupido" or "imbecil"

we also send people to other people's cocks, not so much the cunts...guess we here appreciate the "holiest of holy places" than others, we actually want to go there.

SynthethicalY 04.25.2007 12:52 AM

Everyneurotic 04.25.2007 01:01 AM

the only thing i don't like is that most vulgar words for "pussy" are really vulgar, they don't sound as good as pussy.

mainly pucha and panocha. (concha and coño are complete different things here in mexico, plus i don't like them either)

Everyneurotic 04.25.2007 01:01 AM

no mames, pinches mamadas culeras.

a la verga, todos.

!@#$%! 04.25.2007 01:08 AM

con~o is the cunt in classical peninsular spanish, venezuela, and some other countries i think mostly in the caribbean. unlike concha, which refers to the same body part, con~o is used very much like "fuck" in english-- it's a multipurpose word. conchas are always associated with mothers im afraid (and in childish variations occasionally with sisters). the south american equivalent of con~o in terms of function is carajo, which means the complementary part, the cock. nobody uses that word any more in that sense though, it's medieval-- it's a purely expressive world, really wonderful: "vete al carajo" "no me importa un carajo" "estA del carajo" "que carajo es esto?" "carajo" "puta madre carajo!!" the verb "carajear" means to pepper with insults & to say carajo a lot to someone. wonderful word, this carajo one.
