Rachel Ray is cool?
|
Racheal's husband is a musician. And she's always been a huge music afficionado. Which is how they got together.
And she's smart, young, and unconventional. I'm not surprised. I knew she was cool when I saw her on those $40 a Day show trips sampling all the beer in the brew pubs. |
rachel ray is probably the most annoying person in tv right now.
yeah, how cool is she "ohh i 'listen' to bands pitchfork lick their asses". |
She's not that great. Cooks simple shit, I could do. Fuckin' salsa and chips?
|
i didnt know gmku.
neurotic, i dont give a shit about pfork, but she likes Battles and Holy Fuck, and so do i |

sorry to burst your bubble, but most people who started liking battles a year ago, don't really listen to them (they just say they like them, have the album on their ipod but it would be exagerating if they have listened to the whole thing twice). |
Oh fucking WHAT?! My God, aren't we Mr. Fucking Hipper than Thou Because I Don't Read Pitchfork.
I who just started listening to them last year bought Mirrored on vinyl because I love it so much, and I've put it on tape because I listen to it so much I don't want to wear out the record. & I don't own an iPod. Wow. Overgeneralize much? |

What's your problem. If she came out and said she liked the Rolling Stones or U2, you'd be all bothered about that, too. Yeah, her show's simple and goofy, but she'd got some charm. And she made it on her own, basically creating her own show and getting into the big leagues by a lot of hard work. I cannot fault her for a thing. Plus she drinks in brew pubs. As she would say, "How cool is that?!" |

i'm not getting worked up, it's just that because she likes hipster-approved music doesn't make her cool. i would have been impressed if she had invited espers or islaja to that thing. Quote:
so did oprah, dr phil, montel williams, etc. ...anyhoo, i hope i didn't touch a nerve there, gmku, i know you're not a poser and you truly like battles. it's just unbelievable that a little more than a year ago nobody knew who battles are and now everybody is like "omg they are the best!!" |
Quote:
i always thought she was cute and fuckable when she did those shows-- and a cheap date on top of that-- what was not to like? now that her face is plastered in every supermarket checkout i feel a little sorry for her. but whatever. i'm not bitter or anything. |
Im not 'most people' ... check my last.fm bitch
|
i didn't say you were most people, actually, i'm pretty sure most everyone in the board are on the clear here, since battles talk started well before mirrored was released.
|
my buddy from LA told me about them back in 05... there. is my 'cred' straight? :-p
|

The amount of artists who have listened to only once makes me feel sad. |
haha... i listen to them more than once... not everything is on my computer.
|

I can certainly understand that. I've been there many, many, many times throughout the years with bands I thought only I liked and that become big news. It's a danger inherent in being a true music fan. |
ewwww indie bands that have come out within the last ten years
gag rachael ray is fucking gross, annoying, and she cant cook for shit |
Quote:
Haha, yeah. I listen to a lot of stuff that doesn't get logged. Like today, it doesn't seem to be scrobbling. |

I'd rather fuck Ingrid Hoffman.
|
Haha, I can't understand her music.
|
an example of what i was saying is that, here in mexico, no one knew battles, i would bring them up in conversation and nothing. mirrored got released and still some people were like "yeah, i think i heard about them"; now, once the album has been named by time magazine, pitchfork, the wire, whathaveyou, people in mexico into fads like m.i.a., broken social scene and cold war kids are going "gee, i love battles man!!! they are sooooo cool!!! i wish they came to mexico!!!!" and it's people who can't name a song other than "atlas".
so well, there's a huge poser contigent within their fanbase (of course, not all of them are) and yes, once the fad goes away, battles will prove if they are a good band by releasing good albums to people who like what they do and don't care what's "in" or "cool". i have mirrored on vinyl and i think it was a good investment even if the album is not perfect. |
I had heard of The Battles a while ago but didn't know who they were or no idea who the members were. I'm guilty though I don't hype them up.

Oh, how rude is that. You know what I'm saying? Hee hee. Well, listen that's all the time I have for now, but remember, a great 30-minute meal is never more than 30 minutes away. |

I have to admit I didn't know Battles until Mirrored but I bought Mirrored within a week of its release because of the buzz in my town about it, friends and record store clerks recommending it and stuff like that. That probably didn't make me the hippest person to lay down the coin for this obviously, but I wasn't doing it as a poser, only because I wanted to hear some great music. I don't like that many people buy on the "cool" factor either, especially if they never listen to the album. At the same time, if that buzz gets them into a great band, how can that be wrong, really? |
Quote:
i couldn't agree with this more, the whole stuff. but you know, people should listen to said bands not just spit their name to look like you like cool music. |
Yeah, that isn't good. But I don't think that's what Rachel is doing. Though I suspect she's influenced by her husband's interest in music. But who knows. Better than saying she likes Tom Petty.
|
muppet sex

Now come on. That is too cute. She is a little strange looking in the chest area. But I think I could overlook that.
|
i keep reading about this band battles but i've never heard them. are they really that good? what do they sound like? i gotta stay more up to date.
|
OMG where have u been
|
One thing is for certain. Given the choice of taking Rachel to dinner or the cool chick in Boris, I'd pick cool chick in Boris in a heartbeat.
|
Rachel Ray would be sexier if she had a nice voice.
|
Anyway, could we get back to the topic, which was Battles, right? or Boris?
|
Rachael Ray promotes mediocrity. she is the celebrity chef equivalent of Salieri.
and now this: ![]() |
That seems like the kind of thing that I should find funny. It looks like a funny strip and all. I didn't find it funny, though.
|
haha. ive never seen bourdain. but no matter how talented, i wouldn't let him suck me. just sayin'
|
bourdain the vampire slayer!! hahahahaha.
yep, i wouldn't let tony suck me either, but i wouldn't let rachel ray either, unless she took proactive initiative...then again, what girl would you say no if they took proactive initiative? |
Quote:
oh i could name a few britney, paris hilton, the one with the warty tongue, etc. |
did you understand that proactive initiative means diving straight up to your cock?
