Slow Club are great! "Let's Fall Back In Love" is great. The reason I'm annoyed with them is that they are just a more attractive version of my own band.

Marley Chingus have residency at a couple clubs around Liverpool, I try to see them at least once a week. Their myspace might seem unremarkable but their live gigs are fantastic- they welcome guest players, so usually by the end of the night there's about 20 people on stage battling it out.

Lancashire Hotpots are big around here.. and Lancashire.. and that might be it. Regional comedy folk.

Because I know he lurks here sometimes (although he hates SY)

Bands on interminable hiatus locally include Widget Evil (AKA one of the great lost bands of our times) and Itchy Tasty.

My current favourite local band are Enzuiguri, who really do pwn quite hard live (and their new EP is pretty sparkly too).

A non-local band that are double-awesome-core are Sunshine Republic

This has been a public service announcement. If anyone from Bristol is reading, sorry, I forgot you/ you're not very good.

Derek 11.12.2008 12:03 PM

well, ill be honest then, besides chocolate monk records (which is prolly only 1/2 made up of british artists) and the older classics (matthew bower, richard youngs, etc.) im very uninformed in contemporary underground UK bands, Ill have to check a lot of these out.

Besides bands like Om, who to me are more of just like an Experimental/Psych Rock band, Moss is the only more traditional Doom band I give a shit about.

batreleaser 11.14.2008 11:05 AM

oh, and ash nav and ceramic hobs, love those bands. are the ceramic hobs still together?
