Because several people have said they want to or were planning to get one and/or additional ones. That's all.

I dnt have one. I've thought for a long while that if I get one it'll be just the letter K (in courier font, like a typewriter key) because my wife's name begins with K, and then there's sort of the double-coolness that Kurdt had a K Recs tatoo on his arm.

I'd love to learn to tattoo some day.. but I highly doubt I could deal with a 3+ year apprentice and no money whilst doing so.

Slim chance. Tattoos aren't as taboo as they once were, nor do anyone have anything meaningful enough to represent like vets with unit tattoos.

How do you know it's conspicuous? If they're showing it to everyone and talking about it all the time, sure, but even then that doesn't automatically make it less "sincere". How would it?

I consider tattoos to be an objectification of one's passion, an object that also has historically had a certain level of social credibility. At a certain point, some have conjured passions only in order to have a tattoo. The object of the tattoo overcomes that which it signifies.

Now, sure, a person can still have a truly meaningful tattoo that doesn't give in to the social credibility but even then I believe that passion is a thing of the spirit and not the skin. The tattoo is always an inferior rendition of the original sentiment.

do you disagree with wearing clothing that is anything but functional also? I mean, anything which is aesthetic as much as, or more than functional? Jewelry? a t shirt with a band on it?

My wife has a few. I'm really glad I don't. It's more original not too these days (especially where I live). I have nothing against them, but I'm glad I never did it myself.

I guess I just don't see it as any different from that. Sure, clothing and t shirts are 'removable' and 'temporary, but surely if someone feels comfortable enough to deal with having a decorative thing as a permanent addition to their own body, who cares?
