anything that nick cave does is pretty great. (this is for hip priest,)

IF you ask me.

Everyneurotic 11.10.2006 10:59 AM

sounds quite good, can't wait to hear the full album.

nomadicfollower 11.10.2006 12:10 PM

Wow. I think it's nearly perfect. I had no idea of Grinderman.

guitarpro 11.10.2006 06:30 PM

Cool

sonicl 11.11.2006 02:50 AM

Aaaagh! I can't listen to this track at home because my internet connection is sooooo slow, and I can't listen at work because myspace is blocked.

The band is the band that Nick tours with for his "solo" gigs, and is brilliant for that, but I get the impression that Grinderman is much more "rock" than that.

badgercorn 11.11.2006 07:40 AM

It's great, and noisy as fuck.
And Sclavunos is a awesome drummer. I saw him play with Cave in January and realised how good his work is on Confusion Is Sex. Intense

terminal pharmacy 11.11.2006 07:55 AM

this is sweet, and great line up - mpc / we / js / nc .... can't wait for an album

luxinterior 11.11.2006 03:06 PM

I've had like 5 different people give me this link...and I like that because it gives me an excuse to listen to it again and again...

pokkeherrie 11.12.2006 10:08 AM

wow, surprisingly good!
the first great nick cave song in 5 years or so?
i'll keep an eye on this, thanks.

Everyneurotic 11.12.2006 11:22 AM

it's still no birthday party, though, hope the album is better than this song.

pokkeherrie 11.12.2006 12:11 PM

yeah, it's no birthday party... but it's 2006 now.
at least it's a lot better than anything on his last two albums.

Everyneurotic 11.12.2006 12:22 PM

amen, bro; that's why i'm somewhat excited.

Pookie 11.22.2006 07:23 AM

I'm a bit slow off the mark. But what a great song!

lucyrulesok 11.22.2006 09:44 AM

Great track...

Do you know if this is the band he will be playing with at the dirty three ATP?

sonicl 11.22.2006 10:04 AM

Grinderman are definitely playing at next Spring's ATP. If there's a Nick Cave solo show, it will almost certainly be the same band. I'm not going, so if it turns out to totally solo, just Nick and a piano, I shall spend much of May crying because I missed it.

lucyrulesok 11.22.2006 10:17 AM

how comes you aren't going?
i'm sadly missing nightmare before christmas because i couldn't get a chalet of people together....

nicfit 11.22.2006 01:04 PM

Choug Chough*link*CHOUGHHHHH!!!

drrrtyboots 11.22.2006 01:12 PM

lucyrulesok 11.22.2006 02:14 PM

nicfit 11.22.2006 02:50 PM

of course it is no birthday party, cave, howard, harvey etc were in their teens early twenties when that was happening, some 20+ years ago, people tend to chill as they get older

first of all i have to say that it's hilarious that you seem to consider nick cave from 2001 "old stuff".

but really, what's your problem? you think nocturama and abbatoir blues were master pieces? i think they sucked. matter of opinion. get over it.

jeez, i wish people wouldn't be so overly defensive about their favourite bands.

People seem defensive about a lot of things on here. Why do you care so much as to care? You should see what they're like on the Southern Lord forum.

pokkeherrie 11.23.2006 07:56 AM

haha, i read the southern lord forum occasionally, but i've not once felt the urge to start posting there.

my caring... hmm lemmie think... i'm a caring person! plus, i was asked a question and then it's just polite to answer it. i'm a polite person too it seems.

heh, i wouldn't say they sucked but they def weren't the best he's produced. i think some of the songs off lyre of orpheus/abbatoir blues were pretty good...

atari 2600 11.23.2006 11:38 AM

Good song...

I'm listening today to a Leonard Cohen tribute "Came So Far For Beauty" performed last month at the Point Theatre in Dublin. I suppose Paulybee didn't go.
Nick Cave does 'Avalanche' to start off the show and later returns for a dead-on 'Dress Rehearsal Rag.' Lou Reed lays down 'One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong' and tears up 'Stranger Song' with some fantastic guitar work.
Laurie Anderson does 'Dear Heather' with voice-of-authority vocoder! And then she proceeds to 'In My Secret Life' with Lou on guitar and a full compliment of back-up singers. Other featured performers are The Handsome Family, Antony, Gavin Friday, Jarvis Cocker & Beth Orton.
