Why, I'll.. I'll..

!@#$%! 01.11.2007 07:17 PM

10? why "!0"?

fucksacks, i am not going to count to 10 i am not even going to try to sort out this over that over the other, as if this was my full time job. fuck that! however i'll throw in some names. not sure if my definition of "beautiful" leans towards the melancholy, and i favor strongly female vocalists ("songs" are "sung", right?), but anyway, fuck.

randomly:
lour reed- walk on the wild side
beatles/siouxie & the banshees - little prudence
king crimson - starless & bible black
nico - chelsea girl
roxy music - avalon, more than this
beth orton - stolen car (surely lowbrow: suck me)
nick drake - pink moon
mazzy starr- fade into you
blonde redhead - elephant woman

hm maybe my definition of beauty is "sentimentally horny". well then, eat shit motherfuckers. :P

........

How about some romantic lieder? Schumann's Dichterliebe comes to mind. Or the Mörike-Lieder of Hugo Wolf.

Or some Gershwin maybe. It's in English.

Or on a different tangent, some Beach Boys. I like You Still Believe In Me from Pet Sounds.

He was talking to me.

My taste in music is just way too typical for him.

I'm just way too unhip and into old stuff, just look at my last FM

I do agree it is a problem of mine, BUT there are reasons the bands I love are popular.

Not that you actually ARE, but don't be ashamed for liking popular stuff. I can't stand people who ONLY like things that are either not popular or are unheard of. They are trying so hard not to be categorized and put into a group, but at the same time, that's exactly what they are doing to themselves.

Sorry, this is not the right thread to post this in. Continue on with your list making activities, and all appy-polly-ologies for the distubance.

im just quick to anger, but that's another story.

btw i did not mention cat power because it was hard to pick the few among the many.

Glice 01.12.2007 02:56 PM

In no order, except for no. 1 -

1. Carpenters - Goodbye to Love
Purple Trap - The Reassembling Place of Dispersed Holy Murderous Thought
The Fall - The Acute
Arvo Part - Sarah was 90 years old (or the whole of Miserere)
Beethoven's 3rd

Morton Feldman - Coptic Light
Ground Zero - Die Kapple Von Kersplatz

Pejorative list, subject to my suddenly remembering something else.

noumenal 01.12.2007 03:28 PM

To me, the concept of a "song," is much more narrowly defined than it is for most of you guys, apparently. I guess I misunderstood the topic.
