But does it really make sense to go 'medium sized unit/ smaller unit thereof/ larger unit'? Surely 'small unit/ larger unit/ larger unit again' makes more sense? Or at least 'largest unit/ smaller/ smallest'.
See, calender systems with jump months, or two iterations of one month - that makes sense, because the rationale is apparent (if not transparent). But I don't understand the fundamental rationale behind putting months before days before years. You see? Probably not.
