I think that depends on your friendship groups. Funnily enough, although I'm on facebook, my very closest friends in the world are either not on it or very rarely use it. It's completely different sorts of friends that I chat to on there.

Glice's facebook pros:

- Family members' spouse/ children's names are now easier to remember.
- I can natter to overseas mates. I know I could do that before, but facebook allows you to do nominal gestures (silly links and the like) without feeling like you have to write a massive essay.
- People I'd lost touch with re-appear.
- I like looking at my photographer mate's photographs in one place.
- Band spam is only from bands I know a member of (mostly).

Cons:

- Most people are hideously insipid.
- Most people think they're a photographer (they really aren't).
- I don't like a lot of people I'm 'friends' with but feel compelled to 'be friends' with them.
- I appreciate my privacy but have sacrificed a part of it to be part of the facebook party.

Apart from the last con, these are all things that you can control with various security settings. The last one is what'll ultimately cause me to delete my account, I imagine.
