Of course, no one's going to acknowledge the irony--that the most boring thread ever consists of slamming a show for being boring.
One the one hand, the fact that Michael Bay (an Academy member) gets a vote on Best Director completely invalidates the thing.
On the other hand, it's just a fucking show. I recorded it, skipped the boring bits, had a few laughs, learned about a few flicks I hadn't yet heard of, and called it a night. Yeah, not a stellar year, but it was far more entertaining than that quivering abortion called the Grammys.
